How to get to Pertisau at Lake Achensee
Arrival to the Zwoelferkopf mountain
The Karwendel cable car in Pertisau can be reached by either taking the Inntal motorway, or driving along the scenic A-roads (toll free).
The Karwendel cable car is located in the Tyrolean village of Pertisau, by Lake Achensee. It connects the area of Mt Zwoelferkopf (950m – 1,500m above sea level) and the eastern edge of the Alpine Park Karwendel with Mt Baerenkopf (1,991m) and Mt Stanserjoch (2,102m).
Arrival by car
Toll-free route over the Achenpass or the town of Bad Toelz!
- Get on the Inntal motor way (vignette required!) and take the Achensee
exit; follow the A-road “Achensee Bundesstrasse” B 181; once you get to
Maurach turn off to Pertisau.
- If you are coming from Munich, take the “Holzkirchen, Tegernsee and Achenpass” exit or Bad Toelz. Once you reach the state border, right before Achenkirch, turn off in Maurach towards Pertisau.
Travelling by train
Take the train and get off at Jenbach train station, then take the bus* (see time tables www.vvt.at), or take a taxi to Pertisau.
Take the train to Tegernsee train station, then continue by taxi or take the bus (nr. 9550) over Kreuth to Pertisau at Lake Achensee (around 35 km).
Mit der Bahn bis zum Bahnhof Tegernsee, dann mit dem Taxi oder mit dem Bus (Linie 9550) über Kreuth nach Pertisau am Achensee (ca. 35 km).

* The return coach journeys from Jenbach to the towns of Achenkirch, Maurach, Pertisau and Steinberg are free of charge for all guests. You are required to present your reservation or confirmation of accommodation at Lake Achensee to the bus driver. During your holiday, you may also travel by bus between the towns of Achenkirch, Maurach, Pertisau and Steinberg. Your free ticket will be available at your accommodation of choice.
